PRESS RELEASE All New Refrigeration For Immediate Release Date: October 5, 1998 Newport Beach, California Technautics, Inc. Marine Refrigeration of Newport Beach, California announces new advances in technology resulting in energy savings. Technautics, a leader in marine refrigeration for over 30 years, manufactures the most energy efficient and reliable refrigeration systems for boats on the market today. Technautics is now increasing the efficiency of its 12-volt systems up to an additional 50% with the introduction of two new products: the CoolBlue 12-volt holding-plate refrigeration unit and new vacuum panel insulation, two of the most exciting innovations in the refrigeration industry today. CoolBlue refrigeration uses one-half the power of other 12-volt systems, requiring only 21 amp hours per day for an average 6 cubic foot freezer/refrigerator -- the equivalent power usage of a small cabin light. CoolBlue is pre-charged with 134a, and comes with a multi-speed compressor and fan, which lowers the running amps needed to 0.9 amps. The CoolBlue refrigeration system is self-contained and can be installed by the boat owner in less than four hours. The only equipment required for installation are two wrenches, a hole saw, screwdriver and hook-up wire. CoolBlue also eliminates the need for water cooling and many of its associated problems. Boat owners who use refrigeration systems which require water cooling use at least 20% more energy to run the system, and increase risks to the vessel due to water leakage or salt water intake. Maintenance and costs associated with water-cooled systems is also significantly higher due to water pump breakdown and replacement. Technautics is also proud to introduce Vacuum Panel Reinstallation Kits which include one inch vacuum panels for easy installation to the inside of existing ice boxes. The cooling attributes of one inch of the new vacuum panel insulation is equivalent to five inches of urethane, the current industry standard. This allows for less energy consumption for cooling, and larger capacity for food and beverage storage. Randy Simpkins, President of Technautics, points out that, " When boating, one of your primary concerns is energy consumption. The boater must consider energy needs associated with the use of lights, navigation systems, pressurized water and refrigeration. With CoolBlue, and the addition of one inch of vacuum paneling, we reduce the energy draw of one of the biggest power consumers -- the refrigerator -- by up to 60% of the energy consumption of other systems." Simpkins adds, "The whole idea of boating is to get away from it all, whether its for a few hours or a long-range cruise. CoolBlue will freeze your ice cubes and keep your beer and ice cream cold -- simply and reliably for pennies. When you're out boating, what else is there?"
